Watch first
Why it works
Sometimes the mind goes blank, and you can't name what you feel. This is common (called alexithymia). By mapping the raw physical sensations in your body onto an "affect grid" of energy and pleasantness, you can gently narrow down to a name without the pressure of having to just "know" it.
Use this when
- You feel "nothing" but still feel bad or uncomfortable
- Someone asked "how do you feel?" and you went blank
- You are overwhelmed by a tangled mess of feelings
- You struggle to connect your mind to your body
What you'll experience
Tames Amygdala
Naming a feeling physically reduces brain distress
Builds Granularity
Increases your vocabulary of internal states
Removes Pressure
Allows for "placeholders" if you still don't know
Body-Mind Bridge
Connects physical sensation to mental state
Keep in mind
- It is perfectly okay if you reach the end and still don't have a word.
- Don't judge the feeling as "bad" — just notice it.
- If physical focus causes panic, stop and use the Reality Anchor instead.
