यह भजन भगवान श्री कृष्ण (मोहन/श्याम) और उनकी आध्यात्मिक नगरी वृंदावन की महिमा का गुणगान करता है। भजन का सार यह है कि केवल भौतिक उपस्थिति से नहीं, बल्कि सच्चे प्रेम और भक्ति से ही ईश्वर को प्राप्त किया जा सकता है।

भजन का मूल भाव है: “जो व्यक्ति वृन्दावन नहीं आए, वे मोहन (कृष्ण) के ठिकाने (रहस्य/स्थान) को क्या जानेंगे? और जो वृन्दावन की प्रेम की गलियों में नहीं आए, वे श्याम को पाने का तरीका क्या जानेंगे?“

1. प्रेम की संकरी गली: भक्त बताता है कि प्रेम की गली अत्यंत सांकरी (संकरी/तंग) होती है—अर्थात्, अहंकार, मोह और संसार की वासना के साथ इस पथ पर चलना संभव नहीं है। यदि किसी ने मोहन को सच्चे दिल से बसाया नहीं, तो वह दिल लगाने (प्रेम करने) का सच्चा अर्थ नहीं जानता।
2. वृन्दावन का रहस्य: वृन्दावन की गलियों में श्यामा (राधा) और श्याम के चरण पड़े हैं। लेकिन श्याम का आना (आशीर्वाद देना) वही जान सकता है, जिसने उन्हें प्रेम से पुकारा हो। बिना प्रेम के पुकार के, ईश्वर की उपस्थिति का अनुभव नहीं किया जा सकता।
3. मीरा का उदाहरण: महान भक्त मीरा बाई का उदाहरण दिया गया है, जिन्होंने विष (जहर) को भी अमृत के समान पी लिया और श्याम दीवानी (श्याम की प्रेमिका) बनकर जीवित रहीं। भक्त पूछता है कि जो प्रेम के मार्ग पर चला ही नहीं, वह मीरा की तरह विष को अमृत समझकर पीना (कष्टों को सहजता से स्वीकारना) क्या जानेगा।

यह भजन इस बात पर बल देता है कि भक्ति कोई बाहरी अनुष्ठान नहीं, बल्कि हृदय में ईश्वर के प्रति गहरा प्रेम, समर्पण और संसार के कष्टों को स्वीकार करने का साहस है।

Bhajan ka mool bhaav hai: “Jo vyakti Vrindavan nahin aaye, ve Mohan (Krishna) ke thikaane (mystery/place) ko kya jaanenge? Aur jo Vrindavan ki prem ki galiyon mein nahin aaye, ve Shyam ko paane ka tareeka kya jaanenge?“

1. Prem Ki Saankri Gali: Bhakt batata hai ki Prem ki Gali atyant saankari (narrow) hoti hai—arthaat, ahankaar, moh aur sansaar ki vaasna ke saath is path par chalna sambhav nahin hai. Yadi kisi ne Mohan ko sacche dil se basaaya nahin, toh woh dil lagaane (prem karne) ka saccha arth nahin jaanta.
2. Vrindavan Ka Rahasya: Vrindavan ki galiyon mein Shyama (Radha) aur Shyam ke charan pade hain. Lekin Shyam ka aana (aashirvad dena) wahi jaan sakta hai, jisne unhe prem se pukaara ho. Bina prem ke pukaar ke, Ishwar ki upasthiti ka anubhav nahin kiya jaa sakta.
3. Meera Ka Udaharan: Mahaan bhakt Meera Bai ka udaharan diya gaya hai, jinhone Vish (poison) ko bhi Amrit ke samaan pee liya aur Shyam Deewani (Shyam’s lover) bankar jeevit rahin. 2. The Mystery of Vrindavan: The lanes of Vrindavan have been blessed by the feet of Shyama (Radha) and Shyam. But only the one who has called out to Shyam with love can experience Shyam’s arrival (his divine presence). Without a heartfelt call, the experience of God remains unknown.
3. The Example of Meera: The example of the great devotee Meera Bai is cited. She drank poison (Vish) as if it were nectar (Amrit) and lived on as a Shyam Deewani (madly devoted to Shyam). The bhajan questions how someone who has never embraced the path of love can understand the courage it takes to consume poison like nectar (i.e., gracefully accepting all hardships for the Lord).
