अथॊवाच नहुषः
सर्वं मां शक्रॊपभुक्तम उपस्थितम ऋते शचीम इति
स एवम उक्त्वा शची समीपम अगमद उवाच चैनाम
सुभगे ऽहम इन्द्रॊ देवानां भजस्व माम इति

नहुष ने शची से कहा कि उसके पास जो कुछ भी है वह इन्द्र का है, सिवाय उसके। फिर वह उसके पास जाकर उससे प्रार्थना करता है कि वह उसकी भक्ति करे। नहुष ने कहा कि वह भी इन्द्र के समान एक योग्य शासक बनेगा और उसके समर्थन की इच्छा जताई।
