कुंती के पुत्र अर्जुन ने खाण्डव वन में एक वर्ष बिताया। भगवान कृष्ण के निर्देश पर वह इस वन में नियमों का पालन करते हुए प्रवास कर रहे थे। जब बारह वर्षों का उपर्युक्त समय पूरा हुआ, तब उन्होंने उस समय के निर्धारित कार्य को सफलतापूर्वक पूरा किया।
