अविद्वान अशुचिः सतब्धः शत्रुसेवी विकत्थनः
स सुहृत करॊधनॊ लुब्धॊ न मन्त्रं शरॊतुम अर्हति

केवल बुद्धिमान, शुद्ध और आत्म-नियंत्रित लोग ही पवित्र मंत्रों को समझने की क्षमता रखते हैं। जो व्यक्ति अज्ञानी हैं, सांसारिक मामलों के प्रति आसक्त हैं और जिनमें शुद्धता का अभाव है, वे उनके महत्व को नहीं समझ पाएंगे।
