अवकीर्यमाणाः खगमाः शरवर्षैः समन्ततः
न शेकुः पाण्डुपुत्राणां समीपे परिवर्तितुम

बाणों की वर्षा के कारण पक्षी डरकर इधर-उधर भाग गए। जूझते पाण्डवों के पास आने की हिम्मत उनके लिए मुमकिन नहीं थी।
