Mahabharata Shanti Parva –

⚡ Quick Meaning

Even a tree with beautiful flowers may not bear fruits; likewise, one may appear prosperous yet be difficult to approach.

Translations

English Translation

This shloka illustrates that external appearances can be deceiving. A seemingly fruitful tree may not yield actual fruit, hence represents individuals who may have attractive qualities or resources yet lack genuineness or approachability.

Commentary

Context

Found in the Shanti Parva, this verse serves as a reminder about the disparity between appearance and inner value, particularly relevant in discussions of societal judgment.

Meaning

The key takeaway is the recognition that true value often lies beneath the surface. It urges individuals to seek authentic qualities beyond mere appearances.

Application

This teaching can be applied in daily life by encouraging one to look deeper into people’s character, rather than just their superficial traits.
