निबन्धनी हय अर्थतृष्णेह पार्थ; ताम एषतॊ बाध्यते धर्म एव
धर्मं तु यः परवृणीते स बुद्धः; कामे गृद्धॊ हीयते ऽरथानुरॊधात

English Translation

Attachment to material wealth binds one, O Partha; hence, it is Dharma that binds as well. The one who takes refuge in Dharma is wise; the person who is greedy for desires is diminished by such attachments.

सामग्री धन के प्रति आसक्ति से व्यक्ति बंध जाता है, हे पार्थ; इसलिए, धर्म भी बंधन बनाता है। जो धर्म में आश्रय लेता है वह बुद्धिमान होता है; इच्छाओं के लिए आसक्त व्यक्ति ऐसे बंधनों से कम होता है।
